4 Wine Tastings

1.) Mirassou
Chardonnay
2010
California
11.00

"Our Mirassou Chardonnay exhibits intense aromas and flavors of stone fruits such as peaches and nectarines, as well as tropical fruits like pineapple. Secondary flavors of melon, pears, citrus, floral, and vanilla notes combine with a creamy mouth feel which culminate in a pleasantly concentrated finish."

This was a refreshing Chardonnay. I could taste apple and peach, and thought I could taste hints of the pineapple in the after taste. It was quite acidic but not too sugary. It had a crisp taste.

2.) Columbia Crest
Chardonnay
2011
Columbia
8.00

"An aromatically appealing wine with toast, corn silk, spice, and tropical fruit. The palate is plush and silky, loaded with fruit flavor. A very high quality wine for the price. Aged in new and used French oak and stainless steel (22%). 13.5% alcohol. Sample provided by winery."
Just like in the description, this chardonnay had the buttery taste and was complimented by a light oak. It was not quite as crisp/refreshig as the Chardonnay that I had earlier this week. It was a classic Chard.
3.) Bay Bridge
California
Merlot
4.00
Deep ruby color. Red berry, fruit gum, and spiced nut aromas. A brisk entry leads to a fruity medium body of berry jam and pencil flavors. Finishes with a quick powdery tannin fade. An easy going quaffer for picnics.

I didn't expect much from this wine, as it is only 4 dollars. And this time, price really was an indicator. I maybe would use this wine for cooking, but nothing else. It tasted too sweet and alcoholish. It was very jammy with tastes of blackberry and cherry.

4.) Barefoot
Cabernet Sauvignon
2011
California
9.00

This was a fruitier wine. It tasted like blackberry and even had a hint of pepper. The tannins were lighter than many Cabs which made it very smooth, but also less complex. Some oak could be tasted.

“Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon is a jammy wine with robust flavors of wild berries and currants. Hints of toasted oak and clove enhance the velvety smooth finish.”
